Written (in Hindi and English, with English subtitles) and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker; director of photography, Anil Mehta; edited by Ballu Saluja, Kumar Dave and Sanjay Dayma; music by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar; production designer, Nitin Chandrakant Desai; produced by Aamir Khan;
''Lagaan'' a Fiction  hypocratially  false  patriotic Hindi film  is set during British rule in India, is depicting the trayyanny  of British empire  which is totally false as the other patriotic stories of  Hindi Cinema .  Film is based on the problem of a Village  which  is not able to pay its Tax  “ Lagaan “   to British Government due to drought  on consecutive  year .  Historically  British Government  set the two Criteria of Taxation , First was Rayyatwari  and Second Was Mahalwari System of Tax  in both Criteria  Britishers were hardly Interecting with Peasent  , though at some places it has been noticed that farmers to grow certain kind of crops
All the Tax were extracted  by the Zamindaar  and their Goons  due to which many farmers were forced to leave the village and commit sucide  and these Zamindaar were directly  under the Province/  Riyaasat like Jai Pur , Udaypur , Patiyala , Etc.
As their the trend by the Indian Historian  and Intellectuals and writer  Indian are expert in writing Chaleesa  and False Stories of Indian Struggle and its glorification .
In Film Lagaan It hasn't rained for two years in Champaner, a village in sweltering central India, but Captain Russell (Paul Blackthorne, who is a Billy Zane doppelgänger), the commander of the local British regiment, isn't about to give the parched villagers a break. He makes a bet with Bhuvan (Aamir Khan), the most spirited of the villagers (and of course, the handsomest), but only because he believes it's a sure thing: If the villagers can beat the British regiment in a cricket match, he'll cancel the land tax for two years; if the British win, the villagers will have to pay three times the normal, unreasonable amount.
Like many of the classic, ''Lagaan'' is a utopian fantasy of a perfect community, brought together in literal and figurative harmony. Drawing his players from the village outcasts and outsiders (the team includes both a Muslimand Sikhs ), Bhuvan unites the farmers in a common front against their colonial exploiters -- and even the local rajah, whose livelihood depends on the British, is drawn into the excitement of the match.
''Lagaan'' is perfectly positioned to be the first crossover Bollywood hit: like ''Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,'' the first martial arts movie to make it into mainstream American theaters, it's a smooth, technically impeccable, somewhat denatured version of a culturally specific entertainment.
when practising  and learning cricket  Bhuwan   all of sudden Bhuwan  Discovered  and identified  the hidden talent of Kachra   if he is used and given a chance can be  the Match winner . so he decided  to take the Kachra as a spin Bowler , Black , ugly face , with a one handicapply deformed hand .   Bhuwan  not only face all the opposition  and anger of villagers also educate the villagers that Kachra can be a Match  winner . and rest  of the Story is known to all
Lets trace a little history of British Rule .  before  Dr. Ambedkar Prove Himself  as scholar and also prove that Dalit / Oppressed Class of India is Not the part of So called Hindu or brahmincal System no one was ready to accept him  as a Scholar  or representative of the Oppressed class .. no one , no one was ready to recognize the  him as talented man , but when the search of intellectual who can write the constitution but Indian brahmincal Socity did not find any one in the world who can write it for India  Many scholars of the world in fact scolded Indian people for not giving recognition to Dr. Ambedkar for Writing the Constitution . Finally Dr. Ambedkar Was invited to Write the Constitution and he done it beautifully . Lagaan is nothing just to appease Dalits  Confirm the behaviour of Upper caste toward Dalit and glorification of Caste System ..
In summation it is peace of dirty politics

Lagaan – a story of a village during the regime of Britishers are in a very distress condition ass the are not  able to pay tax due to drought for two consecutive years . they went to meet the feudal king  to request him to grant them relexation on tax . but as it was not in his hand but   Britishers put a challenge infront of villagers  and said they will be relieved with tax if they win the cricket match. Somehow Bhavn convince  all the villagers to paly this match  and Kachra is not there the Apearcnce  of Kashcra Dalit man is shown just like the need of Dr. Ambedkar in Indian History  everybody humiliate him but bhuavn understand his ability and keep him in the team , like the other Masala Film in the end team win the match from Britishers  .
